Every bulldozer has 2 main kinds of blades which do all the basic functions of the machine. One is the ripper blade, situated at the back end of the machine and is used for breaking up or ripping apart anything that comes in its way. The dozer blade is the 2nd kind of blade which is commonly found in the bulldozer and is situated at the front end of the machine. The main function of the dozer blade is clearing all kinds of obstacles, moving heaps of soil, sand and common debris. These two kinds of blades are the most important bulldozer parts which carry out all the functions of the huge machine.

The dozer blade of the bulldozer has 3 types, depending on the kind of blades that are used during manufacture. These are:

Straight blades:

The straight and short blades do not have any kind of lateral curves in them. Most of the time, these kinds of blades are used for agriculture work and forestry.

Universal blade:

It has very prominently defined curves in it which make it possible for the blade to carry heavy loads of soil and other materials.

As the name indicates, it is a combination of the first 2 kinds of blades, i.e., straight and universal. It is however shorter and has a lower number of curves in it which makes it good for moving heavy loads of quarry and rocks.
